Parrot’s New ANAFI 4K Drone is almost here!
Parrot have become known for their Drones and they have been listening to their customers feedback over the past few years.
So Parrot have really tried to deliver a Drone that represents their customers wishes. The Anafi 4K Drone should be in the major stores within weeks or early June 2018, so not long to wait.
Parrot are about to release a new bird or what we refer to as an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), They call it The
ANAFI 4K Drone, which is a quadcopter , which can remain aloft for 25 minutes flight tie & weighing in 11.2 ounces.
Apparantly the engineers at Parrot have been working on this project for around two years in Paris.
Parrot had the bulk of the company working on this project because of its importance to them. If you wish you can pree-order the ANAFI, but it will be available in the stores within weeks of this article.
The ANAFI is going to be released at the price of $699 in various electronics stores including the most trusted and successful online retailers Amazon.com.
Parrot really listened to what customers were asking for and the ANAFI was said to represent the bulk of its design, with four key points. These were, image quality, flight performance, Portability/foldability, and ease of use of software and piloting/flying. So this is what Parrot has produced with The ANAFI 4K Drone?
ANAFI uses a Sony IMX230 sensor and an Ambarella video processor to produce 4K HDR (30fps) video and 21MP photos. Additionally, the optics were specially developed for ANAFI to withstand temperatures from 14 degrees F to 104 degrees F, Parrot notes.
The ANAFI is also equipped with a lossless zoom of 1.4x in 4K and 2.8x in full HD (1080p). It can zoom to 3x in digital zoom. But users can modify the settings to adjust resolution, photo format, shutter speed, white balance, exposure value and rendering. Plus, the gimbal allows a vertical tilt of 180 degrees, enabling fantastic low-angle shots.
The FreeFlight 6 application offers two manual control modes: film and sport. In sport mode, ANAFI achieves peak speeds of 33 mph and can still remain aloft in strong winds of up to 31 mph. Users can customize settings such as the
incline of the drone, its rotation speed and the speed of the camera tilt.
Parrot says the drone features a polymer lithium battery optimized to obtain the best power density in a small volume and a high rate of discharge, which allows the ANAFI to achieve a 25-minute flight time. The ANAFI battery continuously monitors its charge level (regardless of the temperature and aging of the cell).
The ANAFI 4K Drone evaluates the load level and can return to its take-off point if it senses that the battery level is close to the limit or point of no return, it will automatically fly home. The battery also has an integrated charger, compatible with the latest USB standard (USB-C) and can thus be charged via a cell phone charger, powerbank or laptop.
But that’s not all, Contained in each foot of The ANAFI 4K Drone, is equipped with a dual-band antenna (2.4GHz and 5GHz). This will ensure an optimal connection with the remote control at all times. The Parrot Skycontroller 3, irrespective of the orientation of the drone will use the omnidirectional transmission system uses WiFi-compliant protocols developed by Parrot.
The ANAFI 4K Drone constantly monitors its WiFi environment for maximum effectiveness and can automatically change to another channel when the one it uses is thought to be too crowded. This alone guarantees optimal spectrum utilization and performance, allowing The ANAFI 4K Drone to fly up to 2.48 miles, says Parrot.
At 11.2 ounces (approximately 0.7 lbs.) – thanks to the use of carbon fiber filled with hollow glass microbeads – The
ANAFI features four arms that can fold and unfold in less than three seconds, although we haven’t confirmed this as yet. Additionally, The Parrot Skycontroller 3 unfolds immediately and automatically connects to The ANAFI 4K Drone, making set up as easy as pie.
So all things considered The Parrot ANAFI 4K Drone can go head to head with DJI’s Mavik Air 4K Drone which costs $799 or the GDU 02Foldable Drone which are both of a similar folding wing design and weighs a tad under 1.1lbs and offers a flight time of 21 Minutes. So at first glance the Parrot Anafi 4K Xrone is a hundred dollars less and performs a little better. Only time will seperate the two and confirm our first impressions.
Ease of Use
Parrot developed the FreeFlight 6 application for The ANAFI 4K Drone. This allows beginners to access the automatic control modes, such as SmartDronies or CineShots, and even professional photographers can select or customize their desired camera settings.
The ANAFI 4K Drone offers a variety of automatic control modes: Smart Dronies, Cameraman mode and Follow Me, which uses a neural network to reevaluate the target track for each image.
Furthermore, Parrot has stated that the FreeFlight 6 application and the Skycontroller3 long-range remote control were both jointly developed and work seamlessly together. With Find My Drone, should you lose sight of your drone, you can easily make it beep at the tap of a button or find it on the map to locate and retrieve it.
The interaction between the FreeFlight 6 application and the Skycontroller 3 remote control allows the pilot to control the movement of the gimbal and the zoom with two dedicated keys and he/she can change the settings directly on the smartphone screen.
This latest release from Parrot appears to have a lot of thought and development put into it, I for one cannot wait to get my hands on one, so far, I have found a great pre-delivery deal on Amazon.com at $699.99 which includes FREE Delivery if you are a Prime Member. There is also a guarantee from Parrot that is the price dips below the stated figure between now and the launch date you will get it at the lower price, so you cannot lose. So hit the buy button below Now!
The only slight negative is that for some reason Parrot has not added any kind of obstacle avoidance to the Anafi, which is a bit of a surprise as most of the latest releases have added it. But the Anafi 4K Drone is a really good portable drone.
There are a few more models which you could also consider, they are all foldable drones although their feature vary, not all have a 4K Camera but some do have obstacle avoidance so you see they all offer something so your ideal list will determine the best drone for you.
