The New Mantis Q Travel Drone is on its way, in fact, it has already been pre-launched in Europe and it won’t be too long before it released to the rest of the western world. Check it out the video below;
Price and Availability
It’s not a Spark clone, being similar in size, actually a little bigger and a tad heavier. It is an all-new Travel Drone developed to go head to head with the rest of the foldable or pocket travel drones that have been around for a while now. It is currently on pre-order in the UK and Europe with deliveries said to be in Mid September, the base unit it costs around $600 or £500 in the UK, but you can get an upgrade called the X Pack The X Pack includes the controller, three batteries and two sets of spare propellers. While we know that the standard setup is around the $600 figure, we are in the dark about the X-packs price but you would need to pay around $65 or £55 for a single spare battery if purchased alone
Stabilized videos
Instead of featuring a 3-axis gimbal, Mantis Q Travel Drone is designed to stabilize videos up to 1080p with image stabilization. Technically, Yuneec’s drone is built to shoot 4K videos up to 30 fps, but image stabilization only works for 1080p video up to 60fps.
Availability
Pre-orders for the Mantis Q can be placed on Yuneec’s official site, and shipping is expected to start in mid-September 2018 in Europe. The drone can be purchased in the standard setup or the X pack. The standard setup includes a remote control, battery, spare propellers and a charger that charges up to three batteries.
Regulations
Mantis Q is pre-programmed to prevent drone pilots from flying in designated no-fly zones. This applies to the different countries, the United Kingdom, the States and the rest of the World because we do not yet have one standardized set of rules that can be agreed upon which could be a minefield for drone users who are taking advantage of their travel drones.
Before Ordering Check for Reviews!
Mantis Q is packed with features that give other similarly-priced consumer quadcopters a run for their money, but the lack of a 3-axis gimbal must be taken into consideration, especially for drone pilots looking to film videos with as little shake as possible. Digitally stabilized videos may be enough for social media posts where video quality is less of a priority, but drone videos shot on 3-axis gimbal almost always beat electronically stabilized videos, especially since digital stabilization typically crops the video. If consistent, buttery smooth drone videos is a must, consider waiting for reviews or some actual flight footage before pre-ordering the Mantis Q.
- This Drone is smaller than the Maveric Pro, but its certainly powerful, The Mantis Q offers some advanced features such as voice control and facial detection making this quite a unique experience.
- It uses an integrated camera, which offers high resolution photos and videos. Fot still images it has a resolution of 4800×2700 (16:9) or 4160×3120 (4:3) pixelswhich can be saved in JPEG or DNG format on the MicroSD card, which has thoughtfully been included with the package. When you look at the Video aspect the camera can record videos up to 4K.
- The Mantis Q is a great name for a drone and when you put it together with Vision based tracking and face reckognition it begins to take on the vision of some kind of futuristic robot drone. You can smile at the drone to activate face detection and as soon as the Mantis Q “sees” the user’s face, it will take a photo from up to 13 feet away. In Gesture Control mode, Mantis Q will even detect a hand waving You can even speak to the Mantis Q to take a photo.
- You can even tell the drone “Mantis, take a selfie!” and it will do your bidding. Voice control allows users to take a photo or begin recording video all without having to manually take their hands off of the controls, making it that much easier to capture the perfect shot. Mantis Q responds to commands such as “Wake up” for powering on, “Take a picture”, “Record a video” and “Take a selfie”.
- Intelligent flight modes -Take your creativity to the next level by letting Mantis Q focus on the flying while you focus on the shot.
We will take a good look at the Mantis Q as soon as it is released. We can now do a better review in fact now the Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom have been released we can now do a head to head, look out for this soon. But when you ook at the difference in costs, I’m sure that the offering from DJI will be hard to beat, at almost twice the costs the Mavic 2 is great but it all depends upon the depths of your pockets.
